Feb. 23, 2017 12:15 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
2. February - Rotary History - I spoke with Kelly this morning and requested February 23rd for this program. This is the 112th Anniversary of the Founding of the Rotary Club and the ideal date for a Rotary History meeting. Kelly has penciled this program in for this date. This program will be a bit about the founding of Rotary but the major part of the program will be the "genealogy" of the Braintree Rotary Club. Rotary Clubs are founded when an existing club sponsors the establishment of a new club. Thus the "great-grandfather" of the Braintree Rotary Club is the Chicago Club; the "grandfather" is the Boston Club; the "father" is the Quincy Club; the "brothers" include Weymouth and others; and the "sons" include Milton, Randolph, Holbrook, Plymouth and others. The Braintree Rotary Club was directly responsible for the establishment of many other Rotary Clubs and it is hoped that a program, in which perhaps 10-12 club members would be asked to participate, would be of interest to all; particularly on that date. The District Governor during the 1922-1923 Rotary Year, when the Braintree Rotary Club was founded, was Judge Robert "Bob" Hill of Salem; an exemplary Rotarian. He spoke at the Organization Night Dinner of the Braintree Rotary Club on April 23, 1923, and during his year as District Governor over TWENTY clubs were established! |

B.A.C.A - Bikers Against Child Abuse
Mar. 30, 2017
B.A.C.A. Mission Statement Bikers Against Child Abuse, Inc. (B.A.C.A.) exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We stand ready to lend support to our wounded friends by involving them with an established, united organization. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children. We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that this child is part of our organization, and that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse. We do not condone the use of violence or physical force in any manner, however, if circumstances arise such that we are the only obstacle preventing a child from further abuse, we stand ready to be that obstacle. |

3. April - Rotary History - I spoke with Kelly this morning about this one also and requested April 20th for this program. He already had this penciled in. Our actual anniversary is April 23rd but that is a Sunday this year. April 20th is the closest to the actual date. This would be "Charter Member Day" once again. This is the program in which you personally participated last year. I am working on a booklet for this so that it would be easy to do this program from one year to the next. Each page would be a script for each of the 20 Charter Members; and there would be some basic history of the club included. Once again, club members would be asked to take the parts of the Charter Members for the day. |

Join us at the Braintree Town Hall for our assignment area to help "clean up" Braintree. The Clean Up day was originally started by our Rotary Club over 10 years ago, and grew so much in popularity that we joined forces with the Town of Braintree. Volunteers from all over town take care of beautifying several key areas around our community. A cookout will be held for all volunteers at noon. |
