The President's Message
2016-2017

Good Afternoon,

Please allow me a brief moment to introduce you to The Rotary Club of Braintree. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. The Braintree Club was established in 1923 and we have been continuously serving the community since our inception. We are a non-profit organization and we rely on the voluntary service commitment of our members to advance the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self. Our membership is comprised of leading citizens and business people in the community who are willing to commit some time and effort to improve the world in which we all live. We are one of over thirty two thousand clubs established in two hundred countries throughout the world. With over 1.2 million members world-wide, we are a formidable force for humanitarian improvement. Throughout the years we have been involved in global projects of immense proportions - eradicating polio, fostering peace through international scholarships and exchange programs, and addressing such critical issues as poverty, hunger, health, illiteracy, and the environment. On a local level we have been very active in supporting the Braintree Food Pantry, the Marge Crispin Center, the Council on Aging, the Braintree Community Youth Center, and the Braintree Public School system. Our commitment to education is shown each year with scholarships for students in the four local high schools, as well as providing dictionaries to all third graders, thesauruses to all fifth graders in town, and continued support of the Thayer Public Library.
We, as a collective group have changed the lives of thousands making their day a little easier and their future a lot brighter. The feeling of accomplishment and being part of an organization such as Rotary is most gratifying for all the men and women who belong. New friends and contacts will be made and more importantly you will become a cog in the Rotary Wheel to Make A Difference. We thank you for allowing us the opportunity to present you with some information about Rotary. We hope that we have peaked your interest and that you may consider becoming a member of our club. We would be most pleased to have you join us for lunch at the Great Pond Hall, 120 Bay State Drive, Braintree any Thursday at noon to see what we are all about.
