FIESTA D’ITALIA Cooking DemonstrationPaul will demonstrate the preparation, serving, and consuming of four individual courses, representative of a typical meal enjoyed at a restaurant in Tuscany. The four-course meal has been created based on fond memories of meals he and his family enjoyed in Siena – especially at their favorite osteria “La Taverna di San Giuseppe”. Some of the ingredients, if made the traditional way could take hours to prepare, or can only be sourced in Italy, so Paul has substituted similar products available to us at our local markets. The results, he assures us, will be comparable (minus, of course, the charm of dining in a thousand-year-old buca in Siena) and will be overcompensated by the thrill of preparing an authentic Tuscan meal ourselves – in our own home. He has prepared a shopping list of all the ingredients needed to be purchased by the participant(s) as well as suggested wines to pair with each course. The wines are optional – but that’s half the fun! You will receive detailed recipes in advance so that you will know what to expect, and he will also provide suggestions of steps to do in advance (to speed the preparation process, and allow more time for drinking wine). Basic preparation time should be close to 1 ½ hours. We should have time to enjoy the fruits of our labors and keep the whole experience under 2 hours. |
